Student Success Initiative
In 2021, the Village of Savoy proudly joined a new peer-learning cohort led by the National League of Cities (NLC) to remove barriers to basic needs that often prevent college students from successfully completing postsecondary degrees, certificates or other credentials needed to gain access to rewarding careers. The Village, in partnership with the University of Illinois Student Affairs, University of Illinois Smart Energy Design Assistance Center, and Carle Health Systems, is working to:
- Identify and understand the needs of postsecondary student residing in Savoy using the lens of the social determinants of health.
- Establish feasible and effective strategies that attempt, whether through programing or policy, to address barriers to student success resulting from the built environment, such as housing, transportation, food security, and sense of community.
- Track efforts and evaluate implementation.
In addition to the services provided by the Village, the following community resources are available to Champaign County-area residents. Please note that services listed do not constitute endorsement by the Village.
