Foreign Fire Insurance Board

The FFIB is required by state law. The statutory reference for this board is 65 ILCS 5/11-10-2, as amended. The regulation of the FFIB is of the exclusive power and function of the State of Illinois. Per statute, the FFIB consists of 7 trustees; the Fire Chief, who holds office by virtue of rank, and 6 members, who shall be elected at large by the members of the Fire Department. Funds received by out-of-state insurance companies for the FFIB are required to be used for the board is for the maintenance, use, or benefit of the Fire Department, which the FFIB has liberty to determine.
